Truly Empowered: Finding Freedom in
Who You Are Created to Be
The Driving Question for my project is "What does it mean to be empowered in society and how can we redefine the mission statement for women?"
Why are some women celebrated so much more than others?
What would the world look like if we all felt empowered to be ourselves?
Who am I supposed to be?
What is society telling me to look like or pursue?
And does that align with God’s plan?
These questions led to the idea of a capstone project looking at those very ideas.
What defines an empowered woman? Society has defined success for women time and time again but here we stand in 2020, struggling with that same question. Clearly, the culture-driven standards are not making the cut. This project explores what standard we have accepted for women and seeks to redefine that standard and what it means to be empowered. Through conducting an in-depth survey, facilitating multiple interviews, gathering statistics and digging in to God’s Word, this project proposes ways to embrace the gifts and talents God has given to each person, offering true freedom from the standards of the world.
